Earlier Honnavar port hosted foreign traders from the Arab world & later from European countries such as Portugal, England and the Netherlands; the 14th century Moroccan traveler Ibn Batutta stopped in the port during his voyage. The early traders in the town were of mixed Arab and Indian descent & the principal export from Honnavar was black pepper. During the European domination of the Indian Ocean trade the Portuguese and the English built warehouses at this port. The 400 KM Brevet will start at Probyk, Panjim and proceed to Honnavar via Margao-Karmal Ghat- Karwar & Kumta. The riders will turnaround at Honnavar to return to Probyk, Panjim via Ankola-Canacona-Cavelossim-Cansaulim & Chicalim.
